Description
Intro to Pottery, Thursdays 6:30-8:30pm
No experience with pottery required — you don’t even need to be an artist! In this class, we explore the basics of hand-building, wheel throwing, and glazing techniques. You will make several items from stoneware clay, crafted both on and off the pottery wheel, that you can use for years to come. This makes for an excellent first experience with clay, or an enlightening refresher if you have been away from it for a while. Price includes all clay, glazing, and firing for up to 10 pieces.
Examples of potential products include:
- mug
- spoon rest
- garlic grater
- sponge holder
- cup
- dip bowl
- trinket dish
Students attend once a week for 6 weeks. Classes are 2 hours long. Studio time for students is unlimited for the 6 weeks, with the last week reserved for perfecting the pieces you have already made, meaning you can come in and play with clay during our abundant studio hours outside of class time.
During the last class, students will glaze their pieces with the guidance of one of our expert potters. You may choose from our wide selection of made in house dippable and paintable glazes.
You will also need a set of beginner tools, a 1 gallon bucket, a car wash sponge, and a towel. These can be purchased from the studio on the first day of class for $25.
Class is for adults aged 16+. Mature teens aged 13+ may attend with a guardian who is also a part of the class.
Included dates are as follows:
4/29/27, 5/6/27, 5/13/27, 5/20/27, 5/27/27, 6/3/27
